Composting machine: Helps efficient conversion of chicken manure
11 - 18 - 2024

Chicken manure is a natural fertilizer rich in organic matter and important nutrients, especially elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, which has a significant effect on improving soil quality. These nutrients not only promote plant growth but also improve the soil's water retention capacity and microbial activity. However, there are certain risks in directly using untreated chicken manure, including potential bacteria, parasites and bad odors, which may have a negative impact on crops and the surrounding environment.

Therefore, it is particularly important to use advanced composting machines for high-temperature composting. This treatment method can not only effectively eliminate harmful bacteria and parasites, but also retain the rich nutrients in chicken manure and convert it into high-quality organic fertilizer that can be absorbed by crops, thereby maximizing the use of resources and contributing to the sustainable development of agriculture strength.

How does a composting machine convert chicken manure?

The process of converting chicken manure by a composting machine mainly includes the following steps:

1. Collection and pretreatment: The chicken manure is collected in the composting machine. The chicken manure is crushed and mix in a pre-processing unit so that the material is homogeneous for the culture of microorganisms.

2. Adjust moisture and carbon-nitrogen ratio: The moisture percentage and carbon to nitrogen ratio are two such parameters that run the risk of being very low during and after poultry manure composting. Composting machines have a water management system that keeps the moisture of the raw chicken manure waste within a desirable level as well as maintains the carbon to nitrogen ratio in order to ensure optimal conditions for the microbes.

3. Aerobic fermentation: The treated organic waste chicken manure is then subjected to an aerobic fermentation process in the composting machine, which is a decomposition process done by microorganisms whereby the organic matter is transformed into stable humus. In this process large amounts of heat are produced which also help in the destruction of pathogens and insect eggs.

4. Turning and ventilation: Above all, the chicken waste composting machines allow for the ease of spreading of oxygen within the chicken waste compost through turning and ventilation systems. Similarly, stacking helps in cooling down the pile and avoids overheating which may result in excess loss of organic matter.

5. Biological deodorization: An odor is produced from the chicken waste during the composting process and such waste composting equipment employs biological deodorization to minimize odors by incorporating resources that contain microbes and sorbents; such help to alleviate unpleasant odors and problems to the environment.

6. Finished product screening: After a period of more than a month if chicken manure composting is interrupted, the chicken manure is transformed into finished compost. Composting machines first separate the ready composts from those still containing undecomposed materials so as to prevent the high quality of compost from being compromised.

7. Packaging and storage: After this step fertilizers were pack and kept in the appropriate condition to be used for agricultural and horticultural applications providing an opportunity for resource recovery of chicken manure.

Q1: If laying hen manure and broiler manure are put into the compost tank respectively, will the composting effect be different?

A1: Yes, composting results will vary. Layer manure generally performs better as a compost feedstock because it has a higher nitrogen content than broiler manure. Nitrogen is a key factor in accelerating the decomposition of compost, which means that layer manure more easily warms up the compost, helping to kill bacteria and speed up the decomposition of organic matter.

Relatively speaking, broiler manure has a high water content and a moist texture. It is necessary to add some carbon source materials such as hay or sawdust to balance the humidity and carbon-nitrogen ratio to avoid insufficient ventilation caused by over-humidity. In comparison, layer manure is drier, simpler to handle, and the composting process is easier to control.
